Compás is a World Music band based out of Silver City, NM.  We played together for a couple years, and then had a couple-year break, and just recently got back together.  We play a variety of different styles of music from around the world, including Brazilian Samba and MPB, Gypsy Rumba, various Afro-Cuban and Latin styles, Reggae and music from the Caribbean, various African styles, and some Middle-Eastern music.  The music is sung mostly in Portuguese and Spanish, as well as a couple other languages.  The band consists of brothers Andrew and Peter Dahl-Bredine on vocals and nylon-stringed guitars, Michele Parlee on bass, and Jerry Boswell and Cody Williams on congas, cajon, bongos, djembe, doumbek, and many other ethnic percussion instruments.  In 1995, Compás came out with their only CD, featuring many originals as well as some new arrangements of some classic tunes from Brazil.  The Compás CD is available here on my website, at www.rhythmmystic.com ,  as well as at cdbaby.
